Home Sweet Home

During the first part of our relationship, Ty and I lived separately. He lived with his dad and step-mom in a little house in Glendale and I lived with my parents in Sugarhouse (suburbs of Salt Lake City, UT) . We spent every weekend together for just over a year until Ty's parents got approved for a house out in Eagle Mountain Utah about 30 minutes south of Salt Lake. Eagle Mountain was too far of a drive for Ty so we decided it was time to find a place of our own.

We came up with our budget on how much we could afford and started finding places we could rent. We quickly discovered that we would be better off buying a home. It was a longer commitment but in the long run we would save a couple hundred a  month plus it would be a good start for our future.

We started our journey with the hopes that we could find a place before Ty's parents moved. At first it was exciting seeing all these empty/blank spaces and imagining what we could do with it. Every house had a back story and begged for us to add our part to it. Unfortunately most of those houses ended in heart break.

We put in 3-4 different offers with each one getting failing. The worst one being a cute town home in Magna Utah that fell threw beginning of December 2013, when the HOA wouldn't renew their FHA standing until the new year. We found this out after we had our offer excepted, inspection done and our closing date set. Together with the sellers we tried everything. The sellers offered to pay for the FHA approval but the HOA refused. We where crushed that we wouldn't be in a house by Christmas.

Our hearts where shattered and we felt like giving up. We started to feel less excited about house hunting when two more of our offers got rejected and sellers went with other offers instead. Our realtor was amazing and helped keep our spirits up.

That was when she showed us a cute little community in West Valley City. The town homes where festively decorated for Christmas and fresh snow had sprinkled the ground. It was a listing that had just come on the market that day. The price was great and Ty instantly fell in love with it. I needed a little bit more convincing but Ty knew that it was going to be ours. It really was what we wanted. A two bedroom with room to grow. We put in our offer and crossed our fingers that we could close and move before Christmas. Everything worked out this time around except for our move date. The seller, a retired school teacher who was planning to move to Idaho to live with family, needed some extra in the house. Her son who was helping her move wasn't going to be able to come down until after Christmas. We where able to work with her and on December 27 we moved in!

I Said Yes

Ty had a rule for many years. He wouldn't think about marriage until the year and a half mark. His reason for this was all his past relationships had fallen apart at the year and a half mark and where he had thought about purposing to a few it never turned out.

Our year and a half mark had come around December of 2013. This was a major time for us but not because marriage was on the table. We where knee deep in buying a house. But that is another story for a different time. Christmas came and went. Moved into our new home. New Years came and went with no sign of a proposal on the main front.

Part of me had given up hope of that special day, well that was a lie I knew it would come when it was right and that it wasn't up to me. I knew I loved Ty and we had already entered a very legally binding contract that was a mortgage. We where happy and that was all that mattered.

Fast forward to Valentines Day 2014. One of our favorite bands where playing a show at a local bar- The Royal. We where both fans of Royal Bliss and where excited to celebrate this "holiday of love" together. We where going with a group of friends and Ty's Dad (Mike) and Step-Mom (Jaime) where even able to come. I had no idea what was about to play out.

That day was just like any other day except this depressed feeling I had that Ty would not do anything special for me on this day. I cried at work to my coworkers. My manager Michelle (also one of my BFF's) had reassured me that everything would be fine and that we would have a night to remember because we where going to party at the bar. Little did I know that she was in on the big surprise.  She sent me home from work a little early so I could be sure to clean up and look amazing before our fun night.

When I got home I got my special gift for him ready. While at work I had posted all the reasons why I loved him on sticky notes. A coworker had cut out little hearts that I then taped to our door. It was cute and cheesy.

Ty was late coming home, he said that he was working late but really he had devised a plan to make a special trip to my parents house to talk to both of them. He told them of his nightly plans and asked for their blessings. They where ecstatic!

When he made it home he brought me a dozen roses and a pack of Snickers, this was Michelle's idea to throw me off.

We got to the club around 8 o'clock and the place was packed! Our good friend Tess and her boyfriend Nate, were able to get a table on the patio which was cold but perfect to chat with friends. Ty got a call from his Dad and Jaime that they where outside but the tickets had just been sold out. Ty went into freak out mode trying to get his dad inside the building. They where finally able to talk to the lead singer of Royal Bliss, Neil, into putting them on the VIP list and saving the day.

The night was filled with drinking and laughing spending a good time with people we love. At one point Ty told me "You know what's sad? I was reading online no one ever buys shots for the band. They work so hard to entertain us and no one ever buys them a drink. By the end of the night Babe we will buy them a drink!"

I said okay without thinking twice about it because once Ty gets something in his head like that there is no changing his mind. Even when he took me to the bar to buy 6 shots of Jameson Whiskey I didn't think twice about it.

I could explain the rest but I like the video better. Please don't mind Jaime screaming. She was a tad bit excited.

Dog Shaming

I have always thought Dog Shaming was hilarious. Dog shaming is when your dog does something naughty you caption is with a little note/saying what they did wrong from the perspective of the dog. Here is a great site (dogshaming.com) with a ton of hilariously naughty dogs.

You will find out that Jilly and Dozer can be very naughty dogs. From shredding the carpet in our second bedroom to chewing up my favorite spatula and eating our left over wedding cake. He knocked it on the floor when the lid fell off he ate as much as he could in the matter of 30 seconds.

I could never get the right picture for shaming. I am usually to upset and don't think about it until after I have cleaned up the mess. Until one day when I came home to this!

Jilly likes to sleep with a pillow. She will curl herself up in between the pillow case  and pillow and make a nice little nest. During a naughty day when Ty and I where at work they pulled out her pillow and un-stuffed it. It was too funny to miss.

 Ooops!

I took my separation anxiety our on the pillow.

And my favorite- "It was too fluffy."

When it Rains

The past few days have been filled with rain. I love rain storms and so far the fall ones have not disappointed me. It's nice that the weather is finally cooling off and I can wear my sweaters again!

Yesterday as Ty go home, his truck broke. Apparently a caliper rubbed on something and it broke spilling break fluid all over. I don't know all the details on how or what broke- just that we are no short one vehicle and Ty was upset that it had to rain/hail on his way home from work on his bike.

Meet Jilly

In 2010, long before I met Ty, I was on the search for a new companion. I spent months looking at shelters and adoption events trying to find the right puppy for me. I knew I wanted a small dog and I was really interested in a Yorkie. After not finding the right puppy I started looking at KSL.com for a purebred. I still continued to visit adoption events but my search ended when I came across this tiny little chihuahua puppy.

A litter full of brown puppies and one mostly white one. I contacted the breeder however felt like I still needed more time. I was having mixed emotions about not getting a rescue dog and I wouldn't be able to pick her up until the weekend due to work and the breeder living pretty far away. So I waited.

Then on a Thursday night I couldn't sleep. I was up once again searching KSL when I saw Rhonda's latest post. This little white puppy was the last one and she was sure when Jilly was born that she would have been one of the first to go. I emailed her right away that I wanted her and that I would be able to pick her up right after work the next day. Luck would have it that she would be able to deliver her and we could meet the next day. I was so excited. The moment I held her I instantly fell in love.

There have definitely been some challenges. In January 2011 Jilly got into a little fight with our older dog and ended up loosing her eye.

Now a days Jilly loves to be lazy and snuggle under the covers. When she's not in bed she likes to sunbathe out on our patio. Her favorite person is her uncle Kaleb and will do whatever she can to be by his side watching him play his video games.

She's not always huge on eating but has been known to steal peoples coffee or beer. Her second favorite snack is lettuce.

Meet Dozer

Ty wanted a dog of his own and when we bought our house we decided that it would be a great time get a new member of our family. On New Years Eve we found this cute boy on KSL. New house, new dog and a new year. It was perfect.

He is a Boxadore, a nice mix between a Boxer and a Lab. Bringing him home was a world wind of an adventure. To start our other dog Jilly was still recovering from the death of her old best friend Max, who had passed from cancer a month earlier. We where not as prepared for a puppy as we soon realized. He comes from 2 very smart breeds and sometimes its hard to keep him fully exercised and entertained but we are getting there.

Currently his favorite food is anything Pork related- but his favorite is anything bacon flavored. He once stole a full bag of Beggin Strips off of my parents counter, devoured and licked clean before anyone noticed.

He loves to go camping and go for car rides. He loves being off leash and is a good listener and likes to stay close. Nothing beats going to the Grandparents houses. He knows just what we mean when we say we are going to Nanny/Papa's house or Grandma/Grandpas and refuses to do anything until we give him the car command.

His absolute favorite toy is the laser pointer. He has no problem spending hours chasing that little red dot for hours. Even when you put it away/out of sight he still knows right where it's at and begs for you to just push the button one more time.

Got his head stuck in the corn box.

Our First Camp Trip

June 22 we planned our first trip together. We planned to go with a friend Tess and her then boyfriend Mike. I hadn't been camping in years and it was my first trip going with a boyfriend. It was a blast! Aside from the whole peeing in the woods thing- I had a blast.

We got there when it was dark so while the boys unpacked the truck, I started the fire!

We now have a habit of putting up the tent in the dark. We've gotten pretty good at it!

It was my first time shooting a gun. This picture was staged. My first time no one got a picture so before we packed up and went home we got this picture. It was a blast. the mosquitoes where bad though- i found around 43 mosquito bites! It really was the first of many trips.

We Met

We met at a local dance club/bar named The Westerner. It was a warm Friday night in mid April 2012. I was out with my friend Sara for a night of fun. Her mother was newly single and looking to hook up with a nice country boy. I was out for a night of fun and dancing.

He was the tall cowboy in a white hat and i was smitten. I remember seeing him around the bar throughout the night. A fit body and a smile with dimples- I kept thinking he was way out of my league but was very nice to look at.

The night progressed and the drinks started coming. Sara and I where at the bar while her mother sweet talked a tall handsome man. We got our next drink and where talking at the bar when the bar tender came over and asked us a surprising question.

"That guy over there wants to know if either of you ladies are single."
Sara beamed from ear to ear and said "I am not, but she is!"

I swear I saw him say "Yes."

He came over and introduced himself, as did I. We spent the night talking- danced a little and I was sad when our night ended way too soon. Sara's mom had a bit of drama so we had to cut the night short.

We didn't really start seeing each other until May of that same year. We chatted a few times and I thought that he was a perfect gentlemen. We met a few times before may- mostly on Friday's and never outside the bar. It wasn't until Sara decided to have a party at her house that we finally took our relationship to the next level.

We didn't do anything naughty- I ended up drinking way to much and got sick. He stayed by my side the whole night. He didn't need to Sara was perfectly fine taking care of me but he chose to stay right by my side.

The next night my friends took me out to Kilt night at another bar. Even though I was still a bit hungover he joined me and we had a blast hanging out again. When the end of night came I invited him over to my place. I truly didn't want the night to end.

After that we spend every weekend together. Weekends turned into weeknights and I realized that I couldn't sleep well without him by my side.

Hi, Hello and Welcome.

Welcome to our little home on the web. My name is Whitney and I am married to a handsome guy named Tyrael- or Ty as everyone calls him. I have wanted to start this blog for quite some time now. Ty and I have had many adventures over the past 2 years and really wanted to share them someplace. We had even talked about turning it into a family book one day so we can always remember our stories and boy do we have a lot. That's kinda how our family motto cam about- Making Memories.

The main goal of this blog is to share our stories with our friends and family. We have family all over the world and want them to be included as much as they can. I was very inspired by my sister-in-laws blog (The Pullan Family) and how she uses it to keep in touch. It's great getting to see my niece and nephew grow up even when they live all the way in Germany.

Thank you all for joining us on this crazy adventure we call life!
